Grace Mah:
a Champion for Children, & Much More

Grace Mah has been a champion for children on the Santa Clara County Board of Education for 17 years, advocating for equity in education, early childhood learning, quality teachers, and fiscal accountability in education.

Grace has also been a leader and volunteer for Palo Alto schools. Grace served on PTA executive boards, school site councils, served as Partners in Education (PiE) Foundation site Co-Chair for fundraising, and led Noon Science Showcase.

Grace believes in teaching students to be global citizens. She was the initiator for a Mandarin immersion program in the Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD), where she contributed to the application and winning of a Foreign Language Assistance Program federal grant of over $750,000 over four years to develop the Mandarin World Language Program in Palo Alto schools.

Beyond Education

Grace has been active throughout her community beyond education, on issues from social justice, equity and diversity, to providing low-income housing for local seniors.

Professionally, Grace has 18 years of experience in the high-tech industry, including project management and sales experience. She has a B.S. in Engineering and Applied Science from the California Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley. She and her husband of 40 years live in Palo Alto. She’s an avid quilter and has exhibited her work at local quilt shows. Grace is also an enthusiastic pickleball player. She facilitates the Getting Started in Pickleball sessions with the Palo Alto Pickleball Club.
